Richard A. Pill

Rick Pill is a founding member of the the law firm Pill & Pill, PLLC, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, where his practice concentration includes commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as foreclosures. Mr. Pill received a B.S. in Business Administration from WVU in 1973 and is a 1977 graduate of the WVU College of Law.

Rick has many professional affiliations and accomplishments, including serving as President of the West Virginia Bar Association, being a founding member of the West Virginia Real Estate Lawyers Association, and being a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

In addition to serving his profession, Rick has dedicated countless hours to community involvement as well. Rick currently serves a Board Member for the West Virginia University Board of Governors, and in the past has served on the Berkeley County Board of Education and the University Health System Board of Directors.

Rick is an avid lover of all things West Virginia University and has not missed a home football since 1963.

David D. Pill

Dave Pill is a founding member of the law firm Pill & Pill, PLLC, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, where his practice concentration includes commercial and residential real estate transactions. Dave received a B.S. in Business Administration from West Virginia University in 1977 and received his Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University in 1982.

From a professional vantage, Dave is a Member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the West Virginia Real Estate Lawyers Association, and the American Land Title Association (ALTA). Dave strives every day to give our clients and the people in our community top-tier service.

Dave has been involved with, or helped many local organizations through the years, including the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, and the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation.

Dave is an active member of his church, Harmony United Methodist, where he serves in several capacities. Dave resides in Martinsburg and has two adult children, Ashley and Katie.

Amanda E. Steiner

Amanda Steiner worked her way through law school at Pill & Pill, PLLC and joined the firm as an attorney after her graduation from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2001. Prior to attending law school, Amanda received a B.S. in Political Science from Shepherd College.

Amanda’s professional involvement includes being a Member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the West Virginia Real Estate Lawyers Association and the Eastern Panhandle Bar Association. Additionally, Amanda is a member of the American Land Title Association (ALTA).

Amanda is a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Hedgesville. Amanda serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Veterinary Technology Program at Blue Ridge CTC. In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dogs.

Matthew R. Leonard

Matt Leonard was born and raised in Martinsburg, West Virginia. After obtaining his B.A. in English Literature from West Virginia University, he attended the West Virginia University College of Law and graduated in 2015. Upon graduation, Matt joined Pill & Pill, PLLC and has worked with the firm since.

Matt is a Member of the West Virginia Bar Association and the Real Estate Division of the West Virginia Bar Association. Additionally, Matt serves as Secretary for both the Eastern Panhandle Bar Association and Community Alternatives to Violence, a local non-profit.

Matt enjoys being able to work in, live in, and serve the community that he was raised in. Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Jordan and their two children, Virginia and Oliver.

Jonathan L. Wertman

Mr. Wertman is a Martinsburg native who has been serving the legal needs of people in the Eastern Panhandle for more than a decade. He first obtained a B.A. in Visual and Performing Arts, magna cum laude, from West Virginia University in 2005, before attending and graduating from the WVU College of Law in 2008. Upon returning home, he worked primarily as a civil litigator trying cases in State and Federal Courts for a statewide firm, and then a regional and nationwide firm, before joining Pill & Pill in 2016.

Jon’s current practice is focused on title, real estate and foreclosures in West Virginia, topics on which he has been a featured presenter at the West Virginia Bar Association’s annual Real Estate Conference.

Outside of the practice of law, Mr. Wertman is committed to public service and community engagement, having previously served on the Charles Town City Council and as President of the Charles Town Planning Commission. He has sat on the Board of Directors of Jefferson G.A.P. (Growers, Artisans & Producers) Coalition and the Tony M. Music & Arts Foundation, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Children of Uganda. Additionally, Jon and his wife, Ashley, are State-certified foster parents.

Mr. Wertman is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. He is a licensed title insurance agent in West Virginia for First American Title Insurance Company, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and Chicago Title Insurance Company.
